William Wade Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home on Feb. 26, 2026.
In Mashpee, William J. Wade, age 75, passed away peacefully in his home while surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy illness on February 24, 2026. William is survived by his loving wife Doreen Dawson Wade of Popponesset, Mashpee. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Joseph F. Wade and Murial (Hackett) Wade. William was educated in Taunton, graduating from Monsignor Coyle High School and also from Bridgewater State University. He was employed as a teacher and school psychologist for the Dighton Rehoboth school system. William also coached football for both Dighton Rehoboth and Coyle High School. After summering all of his life in Popponessset, William moved full time there in 2014. He loved the community and of course the beautiful summers there. William was an avid Notre Dame Football fan, enjoyed watching sports, especially the Patriots, traveling, golfing, and above all cherished his time with family and friends. In addition to his wife Doreen, William leaves his beloved son Zachary Wade of Salt Lake City, Utah. He also leaves his siblings Joseph Wade and his wife Barbara of Taunton, Kathleen Bettencourt and husband Paul of Popponesset, Mashpee. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the O'Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Monday, March 2nd from 4-7 pm.
