Avaline Fayetta Sharp, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 21, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on September 13, 1952, in Benton, Arkansas, Avaline devoted her life to caring for others, serving as a caretaker in several nursing homes throughout the years. Her unwavering commitment to those in need reflected the depth of her love and compassion.
Though her early years were not easy, Avaline became a woman of remarkable strength and compassion, using her life experiences to become a source of comfort and care for others. Her generous spirit shone brightly through her big, loving heart. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and for always putting others before herself. Avaline lived by the simple but profound belief in treating everyone the way she wished to be treated.
In her free time, Avaline found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed watching Lifetime movies, with a particular fondness for Little House on the Prairie. She loved cooking big meals for her family, especially during the holidays, when her home was filled with laughter and togetherness. She also enjoyed fishing, dancing, and the occasional trip to Oaklawn to try her luck at the slot machines. A devoted collector of angels, Avaline filled her home with angel figurines, a reflection of her nurturing soul.
Above all, Avaline cherished her family. She adored her daughter, Ashton (Wawan) Gunawan, and was a proud grandmother to Sapphira and Axl. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces, Tasha and Stephanie Keener, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ofateda and Mattie Sharp; her son, Gregory Ashworth; and her sister, Pamela Keener.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Smith Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, Arkansas. The funeral service will follow on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM, also at Smith Family Funeral Home.
Avaline Fayetta Sharp’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
