Avis Lorraine Anderson, loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, went to her Heavenly home on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke, Colorado, at the age of 101.

Avis was born November 4, 1924, to Robert and Marjorie (Bayne) Munter at Randolph, Nebraska. She was the 5th of 8 children. Avis attended District 68 country school and graduated from Laurel High School in 1941.

Avis married her high school sweetheart, Robert Anderson, on March 2, 1944, at the Union Church in Belden, Nebraska, when Bob was home on leave from the United States Army, serving during WWII. While Bob was in Europe, she lived with and helped her parents on the family farm. She assisted with the war effort by making bombs at Mead, Nebraska & was recognized for her work by the Rosie the Riveter Association.

At the end of the war, Avis & Bob lived in the Laurel area, where they became the proud parents of 4 children: Rick, Larry, Danielle, and Steve. Bob's job with Nebraska Public Power took them to Chadron, Gordon, and Big Springs, where Bob retired. They enjoyed 72 and a half years of marriage. On Avis's maternal side, her ancestry relates her to the Billington & Eaton families who sailed on the Mayflower. During Avis's lifetime, she enjoyed baking, canning, & sewing. She had fond memories of her square dancing days & traveling.

Avis was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Big Springs. She was Baptized on June 17, 1928, & Confirmed in her Baptism on June 12, 1938, at the Union Church in Belden, Nebraska. During her lifetime, her greatest joy was her family and extended family.

Avis was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Marjorie (Bayne) Munter; twin infant sisters, Loretta & Lorena, who entered into rest during the Great Flu Epidemic of 1918; brothers, Elmer (Harriet) Munter and Robert Duane (Evelyn) Munter; sister, Arlene (Merle) Freitag; brother-in-law, Richard Herse; daughter-in-law, Vickie Anderson; & grandson, Scott Mauser.

Avis is survived by her children, Rick (Jan) Anderson of Charlotte, MI, Larry Anderson of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Danielle (Kent) Mauser of Big Springs, and Steve (Dianne) Anderson of Lander, WY; sister, Iris Herse of Omaha; brother, Rev. James (Barbara) Munter of Loveland, CO; grandchildren, Nicole (Cory) Mauser-Storer, Shannon (Mike) Suing, Grey (Jeremy) Deakin, Josh (Ashton) Anderson, Jake (Vashti) Anderson, and Mira Mauser-Bills; great-grandchildren, Cade Suing, Josie Suing, Elliot Suing; Mason Anderson, Natalie Anderson; Bentley Anderson, Braylee Anderson; Ayla Deakin, Brodie Deakin; Jenna Mauser, and Adley Mauser; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
