Babette Strumpf Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Prospect Memorial Funeral & Cremation Services on Sep. 1, 2024.
Babette (Anderson) Strumpf, 94, of Prospect passed on peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Middlebury Complete Care. Babette now joins her late husband Alfred R. Strumpf of 66 years in heaven. Born August 12, 1930 in Naugatuck, she was one of seven children of the late Frank Anderson and Babetta (Pope) Anderson.
Babette grew up in Naugatuck and lived most of her life in Prospect with her husband Fred for over 60 years maintaining a small farm and raising their family. She also worked outside their home as a CRT Operator for Colonial Bank, was the Coordinator for Waterbury Homecoming and also had been a payroll clerk for Region 16.
For over 50 years, Babette was a member and past President of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 194. She wrote the Military Corner for the Prospect Reminder and organized a letter writing campaign to soldiers from Prospect during the Vietnam War. As an avid family historian, Babette was a member of both the Naugatuck and Prospect Historical Societies. It was a wonderful day of recognition when she was awarded a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the town of Prospect in 2019.
Babette was a woman of great faith. She was a very active member of the Prospect Congregational Church for over 60 years and enjoyed many beautiful friendships as a member of the Evening Women's Association. She contributed her time and talents to many functions and groups in her church and to the outreach ministry programs.
By far the most treasured times in Babette's life was that spent with family. Her love and memory will be cherished by her children: Frederick Strumpf and wife Diane of Naugatuck, Sandra (Strumpf) and husband Paul Plankey of Waterbury, Beverly (Strumpf) and husband Joseph DelBuono of Wolcott and Kurt Strumpf and wife Deborah of Monroe. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren Dionna, Gail, Joseph, Freddy, Joey, Cristina, Jonathan and Emma as well as great grandchildren Madeline, Blake, Charley, Brooklyn, Shane and Gage. Babette will be missed by her sister Muriel Smith and brother Don Anderson and wife Judy. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
Beside her husband Fred, Babette is predeceased by her siblings: Anna Fenn and her husband Bill, Frank Anderson and his wife Ida, Leonard Anderson and his wife Claire, Norman Anderson and his wife Judy and Muriel's husband Al Smith.
Funeral services for Babette will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 12:30 pm at Prospect Congregational Church, 25 Center St. Prospect. Babette will be laid to rest in Prospect Cemetery immediately following services. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 12:00 at Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect.
