Ballard William Wood, age 54, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 9:03 am on Saturday January 17, 2026, at his residence. Born on April 1, 1971, in Columbia City, he was the son of Ronald, Sr. and Brenda (Taylor) Wood.
Ballard grew up at Tri-Lakes and attended Columbia City Joint High School. He graduated with the Class of 1990. Ballard then attended Taylor University, Fort Wayne, where he studied Pastoral Ministries. On July 23, 1989, he married Gretchen Douglas at First Church of God, Columbia City.
Ballard was Pastor for Amazing Grace Community Church, Sidney, IN and was an Assistant Pastor at Columbia City Freewill Baptist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, and was a University of Kentucky basketball, Dallas Cowboys football, and Fort Wayne Komets hockey fan.
Survivors include his wife Gretchen Wood of Columbia City; children Chasity Puckett of New Mexico and Micah (Becca) Wood of Fortson, Georgia; grandchildren Spencer Banks, Dallas Puckett, Jr., Dawson Wood, Hayden Wood, and Roman Wood; mother Brenda (Larry) Keeling of Columbia City; siblings Rhonda (Chuck) Otis and Ronald Max Wood, Jr, both of Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his father Ronald Max Wood, Sr.
Friends may call on Friday January 23, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 pm at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Funeral services for Ballard will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday January 24, 2026, at the funeral home, with calling one hour prior.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Compton Cemetery, Columbia City.
Memorial contributions in memory of Ballard may be made to Amazing Grace Community Church.
