Obituary of Baltzer John "B.J." Conrad, Jr.
Baltzer John "B.J." Conrad, Jr., passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at the age of 79. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He was born to the parents of Baltzer J. Conrad, Sr. and Frances Giglio Conrad, both of whom are deceased. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann Patrolia Conrad for 34 years and Nora Ann Falterman VonBodungen Conrad for 15 years, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Conrad Olson, and preceded in death by sisters, Geraldine Conrad Oddo Stearns and Carolyn Conrad Boudreaux. He is also survived by his children, Jeffrey Michael Conrad (Terri) and Tracy Ann Conrad James; his grandchildren, Brook Conrad Zavala (Jose), Kelli Ann Conrad, Kahlan Olivia Mary James, Kithrym Conrad James, and Shailyn Marria Conrad; and his great-grandchildren, McKenzie Rodriguez, Kenzley Rodriguez, Kataleya Conrad Zavala, and Jose Conrad Zavala, III. Additionally, he is survived by his six stepchildren, Gustave M. VonBodungen (Stephanie), David VonBodungen (Patricia), Paul VonBodungen, Carl VonBodungen (Cynthia), Martha V. Aubert (Allen), and Jon VonBodungen (Michelle), nine step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends, all of whom loved him and will miss him dearly.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, he moved to Violet, Louisiana, then to Diamondhead, Mississippi. His final residence was at SummerHouse Park Provence in Slidell, Louisiana. In his early life, he enjoyed working on automobiles, that passion led him to own his own service stations. He worked for and retired from the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #3706 and the Knights of Columbus Council #5747. He was a wonderful person who touched the lives of everyone he met. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the caring staff at Passages Hospice and SummerHouse Park Provence.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside memorial service on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery located in Camp Villere NGTC, 3488 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, Louisiana, where he will be laid to rest with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, Masses or donations to SummerHouse Park Provence Resident's Fund (1925 Possum Hollow Road in Slidell, LA 70458) or Passages Hospice (20081 Highway 36 in Covington, LA 70433) are preferred. Arrangements were entrusted to Audubon Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
