Barb Vance

In memory of Barbara June Hill Vance.

Barbara loved her family, loved serving the Lord and singing his praises. Though her voice has joined the heavenly choir, the echoes remain here. Her children and grandchildren will forever carry the rhythm of her heart in their own. She is now singing and dancing on streets of gold, in perfect harmony, and watching over her family with a smile that radiates eternal peace.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. Charles (Dink) Dean Vance, her father Robert Floyd Hill and mother Clara Hazel Goodwin Hill. She was also proceeded in death by her brother Billy Bob Hill, Shirley "Shay" Hill and Fenton Hill. As well as sisters, Juanita Goodwin, Patricia Ann Hill, Wanda Igo Duncan, Maxine Buckner, Sylvia McNeely, Melvarine Fizer, Ella Mae Shamblin, Betty Underwood and Lucy Walton. 

She is survived by daughters Kimberly "Kimmie" June Richards and Robin Theresa Eller (Bill) both of Orlando, Florida. Son Charles Dean Vance II (Nikki Mazzella Vance) of Minneola, Florida. Sister, Sue Tucker; Brothers: Robert Hill Jr. and Doug Craigo; Grandchildren Lacey Howard (Nathan), Mariah Kershner (James), Lauren Vickery (David), Logan Eller, Lenzie Eller and Addison Vance. Great Grandchildren Levi, Liam, Link, Davina, Wyatt, Westin, Willow, Waylon, Lilly and Brayden and Great Great Grandson Nathaniel Irizarry. .She was also affectionately known as Mamaw to countless others.

Barbara was born in Ward, West Virginia. She attended school in Cedar Grove before marrying and relocating to the Charleston area where she remained until moving to Orlando in 2022.

Barbara was retired from the State of West Virginia, Workers Compensation. She was a long time member of Riverview Gospel Tabernacle in Charleston, West Virginia where she was also a member of the choir. She loved to sing for the glory of the Lord. In recent years she faithfully attended East Coast Believers Church in Oviedo, Florida where she was a member of The Golden Girls Breakfast Club and Hymns and Hers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the pastoral staff and the many other members of East Coast for their continued support and prayers through this difficult time

Prior to her passing, Barbara noted that "The Lord has truly blessed me with a precious family and church family." She asked to keep all of her family lifted up in prayer and wanted to leave her friends and family with the words from one of her favorite gospel songs as a reminder that, "Well, there ain't no grave gonna hold my body down! There ain't no grave gonna hold my body down! When I hear that trumpet sound, gonna get up out of that ground, for there ain't no grave going to hold my body down!"
