Barbara Adams Obituary
Barbara E. Adams, a resident of Norman, Oklahoma passed away in Norman on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at the age of 82. Barbara was born on November 5, 1941 in Topeka, Kansas to Richard Adrian Price and Katharine Belle (Killinger) Price.
Barbara attended high school and graduated from Putnam City High School. Following high school she attended Southern Nazarene College in Bethany, OK and graduated from Southern Nazarene with a Bachelors Degree in education. She began her teaching career and taught high school history in Childress, TX, Frederick, OK, and finally at Yukon, OK Public Schools. She retired from public education after over 32 years as a professional educator. During her teaching career she remained active in several student council organizations and served as a sponsor for cheerleaders. Barbara was a lifelong member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, where she was active in bible study at the church. Throughout her life Barbara was fully supportive of her many family members as she attended hundreds of sporting events for her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved working crossword puzzles and had an impressive collection of puzzle books. Most of all, Barbara was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother and she will be missed by the many people who knew and loved her.
Barbara is preceded in death by her mother and father; and a son, Jack Adams; along with a number of family pets which she dearly loved.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Kerr of Lake Placid, Florida; by two sisters, Brenda Gilliland of Guthrie, OK and Beverly Davis of Kansas City; by five very special grandchildren, Katy Owens and husband Jud Owens of Bradenton, Florida, Stephanie Kerr of Montgomery, Alabama, Kayla Adams and Marggie Adams of Oklahoma City, Daniel Jarvis and wife Lunise of Las Vegas, NV., Brooke Adams of Newcastle, OK, and Tim Hamilton and wife Mercedes Hamilton of Green River, Wyoming; and by three great grandchildren, Mackenzie Owens of Bradenton, Florida, Madyson Hamilton of Del City, Oklahoma, and Timley Hamilton of Green River, Wyoming, and Lucas Jarivs and wife Eden of Las Vegas, NV; and by other extended family including a beloved daughter-in-law, Jami Parra; a host of former teaching colleagues, and many good friends.
A funeral service for Barbara will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 2:00pm at First Church of the Nazarene,6789 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK 73008 with Pastor Lewis McClain officiating. Prior to service time, the casket will be open for viewing. Interment will follow the service immediately at Yukon Cemetery, 660 Garth Brooks Blvd., Yukon, OK 73099 under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
Pallbearers will be Kayla Adams, Andy Davis, Mike Lopez, Darin Kerr and Fortunato Parra.
