Arlene Yvonne Calavan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully entered into eternal rest on March 10, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on October 11, 1931, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Arlene was the cherished daughter of C.M. and Ruth Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband of 68 years, Wayman Calavan, and her brother, Lon Hawkins.

Arlene's life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication. She married the love of her life, Wayman Calavan, on July 28, 1951, in Okarche, Oklahoma. Together, they built a life rich in family, faith, and community, raising six children: Mark and Kay Calavan, Cindy and Wade Cornelison, John and Lu Calavan, Linda and Mike Beaver, Matt and Katie Calavan, and Chris and Pam Calavan. Her legacy of love and devotion continues through her 19 grandchildren, including Thomas Bebee, Rachel & Travis Hall, Sarah and James Williams, Hannah and Aaron Spears, Garrett and Katie Cornelison, Daniel and Alisa Cornelison, Joshua and Alicia Calavan, Jacob and Patricia Calavan Jordan and David Morgan, Natalie and Nick Reuther, Brandon and Brianna Beaver, Austin and Alexa Beaver, Christian and Sarah Beaver, Caroline and Erik Banuchi, Grace Calavan, Spencer and Kylie Calavan, Nate Calavan, Nick Calavan, and Kayci George, alongside 41 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

Arlene was a woman of remarkable faith and strength, attributes that guided her through life's journey. She graduated from Okarche High School in 1949 and pursued further education at Oklahoma A & M. Later, with unwavering determination, she returned to college and earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from Connors State College and Northeastern State University in 1986. Her passion for nurturing young minds led her to a rewarding teaching career in Oklahoma City and Shawnee until her retirement in 1997.

A devoted farmer's wife, Arlene worked tirelessly to provide for her family, managing their home with grace and skill. In 1975, she and Wayman embarked on a new venture, opening the Lucky 7 Cafe and Steak House, where she warmly welcomed guests as hostess. An active member of her church communities, Arlene served as music director and Sunday School teacher at Warner First Baptist Church, and Sunday School Teacher and Choir member at Blackburn Baptist Church, and later was an active member of Perkins First Baptist Church.

Arlene's heart was as vast as her garden, where she lovingly tended to an abundance of vegetables and fruits. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and her home was a haven of hospitality. She shared her talents and wisdom with her children, teaching them to work hard, love deeply, and hold their faith at the center of their lives. Arlene was a living embodiment of Proverbs 31, a woman whose virtues were praised by her family and all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Arlene was known for her compassion and selflessness, always putting others before herself. She rose early each day, dedicating time to her faith and ensuring her family's needs were met with love and care. Her unwavering devotion to God and family was the foundation of her life, leaving an indelible mark on her loved ones.

Arlene's memory will be honored in a celebration of her life on March 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Perkins First Baptist Church, located at 500 E. Knipe St. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Legacy Village for their exceptional care during Arlene's final years and to hospice staff for their compassionate support.

As her children rise to call her blessed, Arlene's legacy of love and faith will continue to guide and inspire future generations. Her gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to her family and faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who were privileged to know and love her.
