Gary Calavan

Gary D. Calavan resident of Elma, Washington passed away among family on June 4th 2015.

Gary was born in Stayton, Oregon on September 9th 1936 to Dair and Wenona Calavan.

Gary lived in Eugene, Oregon for many years and attended Eugene High graduating in 1955. It was there that he met his wife of 25 years Eloyce I. Walker whom he married on May 4th 1957 and had 4 children. Gary served in the naval reserves for 8 years and later became a plumber and pipe fitter, a profession that he perfected until his retirement.

Gary later moved to Elma, Washington where he finished out his career as a pipefitter at the Satsop nuclear power plant. It was there that he met and married Linda McCormack who he was married to for 25 years until her death in 2007. Gary is survived by his current wife of 8 years, Joan Mcelwain and his sister Jan Stephenson.

Gary is survived by his (4 children) Jeff Calavan (JoAnn), Greg Calavan, Ted Calavan (Amy) and Cindi Braun (Ricky), 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held in Elma, Washington at the Church of God at 109 S 6th St on Saturday, June 27th at 1:30pm with social to follow.

I did not know my uncle, Gary Calavan, well. Family circumstances prevailed. I do remember when I was 12 and visiting the family. I was not a good mini-bike operator and have the scar to prove it, but I recall a wonderful visit with the entire family. My deepest condolences on your loss.
