Barbara Agnew Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Circle of Life Funeral Home on Mar. 5, 2026.
In Loving Memory of Barbara

Barbara was born on May 16, 1940, to the late Theodore Agnew and John Wesley Downer.

She began her education within the New York school system before continuing her studies in the Camden City School System.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Agnew and John Wesley Downer, along with her siblings Johnny, Sandy, William, and Wesley.

Affectionately known as "Barb," she was called home on February 28, 2026.

Shortly after graduating high school, she started her family, proudly becoming the mother of eight children - four boys and four girls. Later, she married William Mosely, and the two remained devoted to each other until her passing.

A hardworking and dedicated individual, she had two primary careers: she worked for the Board of Education, from which she retired, and also spent many years as a caregiver. Additionally, she volunteered at Sacred Heart and contributed significantly to her community in various roles.

To know her was to understand her deep love for her family. She had a passion for music, but her true joy was found on the dance floor. Family gatherings were never complete without her dancing - some affectionately referred to her as the original "Twerk Queen." She enjoyed playing bingo, visiting casinos, and was renowned for her exceptional cooking.

She was never one to hold back her thoughts, always expressing herself candidly and authentically. Bold, honest, and unapologetically herself, she stood firmly in her beliefs.

Barbara was truly the mother and matriarch of the Camden City community, cherished and respected by many throughout the area.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, William Mosely; her eight children: Theodore; Kathleen (the late James Gibson); John (Joanne Buffaloe); Robert (Nadine Buffaloe); Barbara (the late Ronnie Pratt); Filepa (the late Troy Jackson); Julius; and William (Rose Moseley).

Her legacy continues with 35 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, her loving siblings Lervene, Joann, Renee, Leto, and Andre, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. She also leaves behind her goddaughter, Arrie, and her godson, Miles.

She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her presence was a blessing, her life a precious gift, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who loved her.
