It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara S. Allen, 84, of Alexandria, who peacefully departed this life on December 11, 2025, at The Laurels of Defiance in Defiance, Ohio, following an extended illness.
Born on November 9, 1941, in Owensboro, Kentucky Barbara was the beloved daughter of James and Lula (Stone) Odom. She was united in marriage to Ermal Allen, who sadly preceded her in death.
A dedicated member of the Alexandria Nazarene Church, Barbara devoted herself to her community and her family. She served as the school secretary for Alexandria-Monroe School Corporation for 17 years, retiring in 2005.
In her free time, Barbara found joy in gardening and sewing, hobbies that brought her much happiness and creativity.
Barbara is survived by her cherished daughters, Terri Smith of Alexandria and Rachel (Jeff) Shafer of Hicksville, Ohio; her brother, Don Odom; her sister, Linda Hysong; and her loving grandchildren, Joshua, Elizabeth, and Neal Shafer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ermal, and her sister, Donna Schacht.
At this time, there are no public services planned to honor Barbara's memory.
