Barbara Anne Hamby Phillips, 83, entered into eternal rest on August 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and the peace of her faith. Born on April 12, 1942, in Dalton, Georgia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Charles and Florence Hamby.
After graduating high school, Anne began her professional journey at the Macon Telegraph, where she worked with dedication and pride. Her warmth, strong work ethic, and kind spirit left a lasting impression on those she encountered.
A long-time and faithful member of Second Baptist Church, Anne’s life was a testament to her deep and abiding faith. Her love for Christ guided her every step, and she lived each day with grace, compassion, and humility. She was a devout Christian whose quiet strength and unwavering belief in God touched countless lives.
Anne was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan, never missing a chance to cheer on her favorite team. Whether watching from home or discussing the latest game with friends, her love for baseball brought her much joy.
She will be remembered for her kind heart, steadfast faith, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
In addition to her parents, Anne as preceded in death by her husband, Ken Phillips.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Melanie Paige Phillips and Casey Phillips (Tiffany); grandchildren, Eleni Chittenden (Matt), McKenzie Baker, Emma Baker, and Wyatt Baker; great-grandchildren, Callie, Ivey and Montana Chittenden; and brother, Bill Hamby (Suzy)
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Anne’s life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Anne will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
