Barbara Baker, age 75, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025. Born on February 4, 1950, in New York, New York, she was the daughter of George and Mary Clifford Hill. Barbara married her beloved husband, James Teddy Baker, on December 31, 1970, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She dedicated 40 years of service as a dispatcher for Guy King, where she was appreciated for her unwavering commitment and excellent work ethic. As a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, she found community and joy in her faith.
Known for her generosity and kindness, Barbara had a special talent for helping others and was always ready to lend a hand wherever she could. She found joy in simple pleasures, including the everyday task of doing laundry, which she approached with love and care.
Barbara leaves behind her sons, Mark Baker and Charles "Tiny" Monahan; her daughters, Sherrie Britt, Wendy Baker, and Desiree Baker; as well as her sisters, Mary Smith-Jones and Helen Smith. She was a proud grandmother to Brittany, Hannah, C.J., Ashlee, Mazie, Lyndee, Dustin, and Jada, and a delighted great-grandmother to Madelyn, Mercy, Mya, Theo, William, Eli, and Abigail. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Smith; her husband, James Teddy Baker; her sons, James Teddy Baker, Jr. and Joseph Patrick Baker; and her brothers, John Smith and Mickey Smith.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass to honor Barbara's life will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 1:30 PM at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Norbert Rappold. Burial will follow in the Catholic Section of Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
