Barbara E. Baker, 91, of Carmi passed away on December 17, 2025 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 28, 1934 in White County, IL the daughter of Henry Arthur and Cumae Dorothy (Tate) Burroughs. Barbara married Ronald Dean Baker in June 1954 and were married for 62 years until his passing on July 16, 2016. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Carmi and was an active member in Sunday School and Missions. Barbara’s hobbies included gardening, needle work, playing the piano and singing, along with cooking and trying new things in the kitchen.
Barbara is survived by her children, Barry (Angela) Baker of Carmi and Sondra (Troy) Reisner of Littleton, CO; daughter-in-law, Deborah Baker of West Salem, IL; her brother, Don Burroughs of Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren, Dan Baker, Shane (Natalie) Baker, Dylan (Taylor) Baker, Makenzie (Devin) Saunders, Anna (Jonathan) Roberts, and Ryan Reisner; ten great-grandchildren, including one due in March. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Mike Baker, and brother Mervin Burroughs.
Funeral Services for Barbara E. Baker, 91, of Carmi, IL will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi or First Baptist Church, Lottie Moon Christmas offering and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home or by mail to 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
