Barbara J. (Rupert) Baker, 87, of Huntingdon, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, surrounded by her family. She had been in failing health for a number of years. Born June 30, 1938 in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Thomas N. Rupert Sr. and Alma Ruth (Defibaugh) Rupert. She was united in marriage to Charles J. Baker on August 21, 1970, at the 12th Street Methodist Church, Huntingdon, by the Reverend Fisher. Mr. Baker preceded her in death on September 20, 2017, after 46 years of marriage.
She is survived by four children, Adrian C. Lane and wife, Cathy, of Alexandria, Angela C. (Lane) Wolfe and husband, Bill, of Altoona, Belinda S. (Phillips) Zauzig and husband, James, of Huntingdon, and J. Randall Baker and wife, Rita, of Cincinnati, OH; seven grandchildren, Ian Lane and wife, Danielle, Sean Lane and companion, Jenna Conner, Madeline (Lane) Litzinger and husband, Jerry, Matthew Wolfe and wife, Chelsea, Jacob Wolfe and fiancée, Sara Cordeiro, Derick Horsefield, and David Horsefield; and five great-grandchildren, Abby Wolfe, Emerson, Wesley, and Samuel Litzinger, and Hazel Lane. She is also survived by a brother, Ronald E. Rupert and wife, Susan, of State College; a sister-in-law, Faith Rupert, of Pittsburgh; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as, her former husband, Kenneth J. Lane and wife, Carol, of Huntingdon.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette E. (Baker) Given; a grandson, Tyler Zauzig; and a brother, Thomas N. Rupert, Jr.
Mrs. Baker was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon; and attended the Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon, as a child.
She was a graduate of Huntingdon High School, class of 1956.
After high school, Mrs. Baker began her working career at the former Bell Telephone Company, Huntingdon. Subsequently, she was hired as a secretary with the Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation (PennDot), and later held the position of co-manager at the former United Furniture Store, Inc, Huntingdon. Afterward, she became employed as an administrative secretary at Altoona Area High School, retiring in 1989. Following retirement, she and her late husband, Charles, opened "Baker's TV Service" on Washington St. in downtown Huntingdon and enjoyed many years of serving the local community.
Mrs. Baker had a special passion for music and loved singing and playing the piano. She also enjoyed reading novels, going swimming, attending her high school class reunions, dining out, and having picnics with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Friends will be received from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, and from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St.,
Huntingdon, PA 16652. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 16th, at the funeral home, with Pastor Duane Coy officiating. Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery, 245 Standing Stone Avenue, Huntingdon.
