Barbara Jean "Jeanie" Beasley, a beacon of warmth and selflessness, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 1, 2026, in
Newburgh, Indiana. Born on March 2, 1937, in
Evansville, Indiana, Jeanie was the cherished firstborn child of Christian and Ada Kratz. She grew up in a lively household with her four sisters, Judy, Janice, Jackie, and Joyce, who together shared an unbreakable bond.
Jeanie's life was one of commitment and joy. She married Ralph Beasley, and together they created a home filled with love and laughter. Jeanie was a devoted mother to her two sons, Christian Beasley of
Laguna Beach, FL, and Scott (Lisa) Beasley of
Evansville, IN. Her pride and joy extended to her granddaughter, Faith Kelsey of
St Louis, MO, who brought immense happiness into her life.
A proud alumna of Newburgh Elementary & High School, Jeanie graduated in the class of 1955. Her passion for community and fellowship was evident through her active membership in the Tri-Kappa Social Sorority. Jeanie's roots ran deep in her hometown, where she was a life-long member of Zion UCC in Newburgh. Her melodious voice would often be heard in the church choir, uplifting all who listened.
Jeanie's love for sports was undeniable as she was a long-time University of Evansville Aces season ticket holder. Her zeal for life was reflected in her varied interests. A parent first and foremost, she also had a love for gardening, tennis, playing cards and room design. Known as an "Expert Little League Mother," Jeanie cheered on her sons with enthusiasm and pride. Her skill in bowling was impressive, boasting an average score between 190-200, and her highest score was an astonishing 278.
Always the first to volunteer, Jeanie made it her goal to visit shut-ins, ailing friends, and family, bringing cheer and comfort wherever she went. Her playful spirit often led her to rearrange furniture just for fun, leaving a trail of beautifully refreshed spaces in her wake. Jeanie treasured her weekly visits to Scott and Lisa's home, where she delighted in Lisa's cooking.
The Florida panhandle's beaches were the backdrop to her cherished summer highlights, where she enjoyed time with her cousin Marcia and granddaughter Faith. In her senior years, Jeanie made her home in Primrose Retirement Community, and later, their Memory Care Unit. Her family, Scott, Lisa, and Christian extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff and management of Primrose for their devoted care, as well as the Ascera Hospice care team, who offered support and compassion in Jeanie's final days.
Jeanie's legacy is one of love, adventure, and selflessness. Her adventurous spirit, loving nature, and selfless acts of kindness have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. Jeanie's memory will forever be treasured and her presence sorely missed. As we bid farewell to Barbara Jean "Jeanie" Beasley, we celebrate a life extraordinarily well-lived and the countless ways she touched our lives.
