Barbara "Sue" Beene passed away peacefully at her home on May 2, 2025, in
Highlands, Texas. She was born on October 11, 1942, to Guy and Eva Jones, who proceeded her in death. She was also proceeded in death by her younger brother, Guy William Jr. Her family lived in Houma, LA at the time of her birth, but her father's work soon took them to the Corpus Christi, Texas area. For several years they resided in Corpus, before they finally moved to
Highlands, Texas. Highlands is where she was happy to call home for the remainder of her life.
Sue met and married the love of her life, Samea, in 1984. When she met Sa, she was immediately welcomed by the area's Polynesian community that was Sa's extended family. From that moment on, they shared a loving and happy life surrounded by many friends and extended family. They would attend the gatherings, and celebrations of Polynesian culture and came to meet many new people that quickly became their close friends. Together they found such joy spending precious time with their friends building such lasting companionships, and cherished friendships.
Sue is lovingly remembered by her son, Melvin, and daughter-in-law Vickie Beene. She adored her two grandchildren, granddaughter Lauryn, married to Alexa, and grandson Shae married to Niki. She treasured one great-grandchild, Callum, and a new one on the way which she thought of often.
She was very kindhearted and very giving, whether it be at church, or in her community. In her younger years her giving, compassionate spirit led her to be involved in the ladies auxiliary club and helping fire fighters and families in different situations. Her smile would light up a room. Sue will be remembered for being kind, gentle, and her fun and happy spirit. She loved to make people laugh and often played jokes and trickery on her friends and family. She just really enjoyed people and really treasured helping and being with the ones she loved.
Sue had a huge heart and immense faith in the Lord. She spent hours watching her favorite evangelists, praying, and listening to Gospel music. Gospel music is what gave her peace and strength and helped her through her final days. We were so thankful and lucky to have Sue in our lives. We will miss her bright light and will keep her in our hearts always.
