Barbara Ann Redmon, previously Bilyeu and born Braun, age 85, of Prospect, Kentucky, passed away on December 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on September 5, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky, and throughout her life remained devoted to the people and communities that shaped her.
Barbara had a remarkable adoration for her family and friends. She was the first to attend even the smallest gathering, always bringing warmth, attentiveness, and a bright presence that made others feel seen and valued. A true people person, she built meaningful connections wherever she went. That same caring spirit shone through in her career, where she spent many years working with allergists across the Louisville area and was deeply appreciated by the physicians and support staff who worked alongside her.
She is survived by her loving sister, Betty Lindsey; her son, John “Jack” Bilyeu, and his wife, Mary; her daughter, Kelly; step-daughter, Jennifer; and her grandchildren, Kyle, Morgan, Elizabeth, Wesley, Shelly (Jesse), and Stephanie (Sam). Barbara especially loved watching her family grow, and she took immense joy in her great-grandchildren: Caroline, Laila, Riley, and Harper (Shelly and Jesse); and Vincent “Vinny”, Louis, and Charles (Stephanie and Sam).
Barbara was a devoted Louisville Cardinals fan, spending countless years cheering on the football and basketball teams-both at home and while traveling to support them. When not surrounded by loved ones or cheering from the stands, she could often be found absorbed in a good book. A voracious reader, she delighted in turning the pages of new stories and discovering new authors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delpha and Frank Braun, and by her former husbands, John Bilyeu and John “Bob” Redmon.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243, with a prayer service beginning at 5:30 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Barbara’s life.
Barbara will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her generous spirit, her infectious enthusiasm, and the unwavering love she shared with those fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Louisville Free Public Library in Barbara’s memory.
