Barbara J. Blumenstein, age 81, formerly of Owen, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Rev. Nancy Amacher will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Barb was born on April 17, 1942, the daughter of Norman and Irene (Wolfe) Kell in Wausau. She graduated from Medford High School in 1960. On May 13, 1961, Barb was united in marriage to Eugene Blumenstein in Medford. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2004. She worked for her parents, Kell's Grocery Store in Withee, when she was younger. Barb and Eugene owned Blumenstein Steel Inc. from 1984 until it was sold in 1999.
Barb enjoyed fishing, attending craft fairs, old cars, especially Studebakers, and listening to Elvis. She never missed watching pro wrestling, NASCAR, football and "All My Children". She especially loved baking and was generous in giving away her baked goods, especially her well known Easter Bunny Cake. Barb was a loving, caring and sweet lady who loved and cherished her family and friends.
Barb is survived by her five children: Sheila (Michael) Zaborowski of Eau Claire, Mark Blumenstein of Eau Claire, Shelly Johnson of Curtiss, Sherri King of Withee and Brandon (Raquel) Blumenstein of Afton, MN; 13 grandchildren: Amber (Jerome) Hodgins, Joshua (Erin) Johnson, Jesica Mount, Kyle Peterson, Austin King (fiance, Cheyenne), Britny Porter, Alyssa Freund, Dylan Blumenstein, Cody Kummer, Sierra Cayce, Rebecca "Bex" Blumenstein, Claire Blumenstein and Alex Blumenstein; and 12 great-greatchildren. She is further survived by her two sisters: Cheryl (Jay) Purdy and Charlotte (David) Hatlestad, both of Withee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Roger (Mary Ellen) Kell and a granddaughter, Alexis Kylie King.
