Barbara “Bobbie” Jean Cox, 81, of South Chesterfield, VA, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Born in Colonial Heights, VA on February 25, 1943, she was the daughter of the late David Aubrey Emory and Lizzie Mae Crocker Emory. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Ronald Raymond Cox, Sr.
Bobbie was a strong-willed, tough, but deeply loving woman with a sharp sense of humor. Her family meant everything to her, especially her son whom she adored. She loved animals and enjoyed spending time outside, often in the sunlight where she could be found tanning. Bobbie was a strong member of her community, looking after many and spending her Fridays visiting with multiple friends.
She is survived by her son, Ronald R. Cox, Jr. and wife, Nikki; granddaughters, Sadie E. Martin and husband, Korey, and Madelyn G. Cox; sister, Betty Allgood; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024, in East Matoaca Cemetery, 21688 Memorial Avenue, S. Chesterfield, VA 23803.
