Barbara Boyle Obituary

Barbara Ann (McGrath) Boyle of Greenwood walked into the arms of Jesus early on Sunday morning, September 28. She was born to Rose (Cohen) and James Joseph McGrath on August 31, 1938 in Indianapolis. Barb was second oldest in her family and enjoyed life with her four siblings, Bob, Mike, Mary and Patrick. On August 3, 1968 Barb married the love of her life, James (Jay) Boyle and became a farm girl.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brother Bob McGrath (Helen), and sister Mary Doepker (Leo). Barb is survived by brothers Mike McGrath (Linda) of Indianapolis and Patrick McGrath (Sharon) of Florida as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Barb graduated from St. Patrick's Grade School in 1952 and St. John's Academy in 1956 where she kept close contact with school friends and regularly attended reunions for as long as possible.

Although Barbara lived all of her life in Indianapolis until her move to Greenwood Village South, she loved to travel. She traveled to Ireland, Switzerland, Paraguay, and Israel and numerous destinations across the U.S. Barb never knew a stranger, so wherever she went she made a friend.

Until her retirement in 2006, Barb worked all of her adult life in the employment of the federal government. She was a dedicated employee with the Department of the Army, the VA, FAA and TSA. While employed by the FAA, Barb was nominated for the Volunteer Service Award. In the nomination process her supervisor cited her dedication to her work, her commitment to her community and service to her church.

After retirement Barb had more time to enjoy reading and cheering on her favorite sports teams. She was an avid Colts fan. She loved the outdoors and found great pleasure in enjoying the sun on her face.

Barb attended Community Church of Greenwood, was baptized by Woody Church at Grace Fellowship, attended The Church at Stone's Crossing, but found another church home at Southland Community Church. She attended Southland until 2018 when her health declined. Especially dear to Barb is the ministry of Pastor David and Marci Joseph in Alaska and the messages on Sunday mornings by Pastor Steve Schellin and Pastor Kerry Huffman.

Services for Barb will be Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street, Greenwood IN. Viewing will begin at 11:00 followed by a service at 12:00. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Pastor Kerry Huffman of Southland Community Church will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Southland Community Church, 5800 West Smith Valley Road, Greenwood 46142.
