Barbara Brame Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
James 1:17- "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change".
Barbara A. Brame (nee Grimes) was born on Sunday, May 24, 1953, to Willie Lee Wilson and Theodosia Grimes in Bishopville, South Carolina. Her time growing up was split between the South with her beloved grandmother, Eloise, and in New York with her mother. To know Barbara is to know that she was a faithful woman. Raised with a deep belief in God, Barbara lived a life rooted in faith, carrying those values with her in her relationships and daily walk.
Proverbs 31:13- "She works diligently with her hands." Barbara dedicated her entire life to service. She worked as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) for many years and eventually as a supervisor, managing and teaching new and younger nursing assistants. She later changed her career path to childcare. At one time, she started an in-home day care, but only briefly before becoming a foster mom. In addition to fostering, she also provided respite care to other foster care parents and children transitioning from one home to another. She then went on to become a mom again by adopting her younger children.
Proverbs 19:4- "House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord." Barbara married McKinley "Duck" "Doug" Brame on June 4, 1988, at Vine Memorial Baptist Church. Together, they raised eight children and were married for 37 years until her passing.
2 Timothy 4:2- "Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching." Barbara left Pennsylvania in 2000 to return to the place that held her heart., Bishopville, South Carolina. She bought a house close to her grandmother, Eloise, and continued to spread the LORD's gospel. She was a Sunday school teacher at The House of God Church in Bishopville, under her mentor and friend, the now Elder Easton Wells. She later joined the Tabernacle Worship Center, where she was installed as an Evangelist by the now Apostle C. L. Johnson. She later preached her trial sermon and received her license to preach the Gospel on November 18, 2008.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Willie Wilson; sister, Brenda Wilson; daughter, Tracey Brame; grandson, Daquan Taylor; and son-in-law, James A. Davis.
Barbara leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, McKinley; mother, Theodosia; seven children, Antoinette, Taynishea, Shanta, Oscar, Donte, Mark, and Amber; one son-in-law, Michael; over 16 grandchildren; one granddaughter-in-law; and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn one brother, two sisters, and a host of family and friends.
