Barbara J. (Forbes) Breed, 99, of Bemus Point, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing.

She was born September 12, 1926, in Falconer, NY, to Ray and Theodora Forbes. Her family owned and operated G.A. Forbes & Sons Stock Farms for 6 Generations.

She attended WCA Hospital Nurses Training and worked as a dental assistant prior to marrying Ronald A. Breed, of Jamestown, in 1947. She and her husband were winter residents at Kings Gate in Nokomis, Florida for over 20 years.

They built and made a home in Bemus Point, where she raised her children, was active in the Violet Club, a member of Bemus Point United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Girl Scout Leader, PTA, the Mothers Club and known affectionately as "The Avon Lady".

In recent years she was a resident at Carlson Towers Apartments, Hultquist Place Assisted Living and Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center and lastly Heritage Green. During that time, she met many old friends and made many new ones. She enjoyed the comfort and care provided by the staff at each location.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Breed, in 1998, a grandson, Gabe Johnson, in 2005 and a granddaughter, Laura (Breed) Crandall, in 2023.

She is survived by two sons, Daniel (Deborah) Breed of Youngstown, NY and Michael Breed of Greenhurst; a daughter, Valerie (Blair) Johnson of Bemus Point; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will take place at 2 pm Saturday October 4, 2025, in the Bemus Point Methodist Church, 4954 Bemus-Ellery Rd. Friends will be received in the vestibule of the church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
