February 6, 1943- January 24, 2025
Barbara Brown (Barb) gained her heavenly wings on the evening of January 24th, 2025, at her home in Coos Bay. She was in her favorite recliner with her two daughters at her side. Barb lost her battle with stage 4 kidney disease and congestive heart failure. Barb was a fighter and had survived osteosarcoma 40 years ago and a bad fall in Klamath Falls 8 years ago.
She was born in San Francisco, CA to Ernest Christian Juhl and Carol Jean Juhl (formerly Carol Jean Grace Gingrass). She was the eldest of four daughters. Barb attended school in California, Montana, and Wyoming. She graduated from Billings High School. Barb had fond memories of her childhood and singing with her 3 siblings. She stated, "We were pretty good too." as she reminisced in the days before her passing. She also enjoyed the time that her sisters and she spent participating in the Walther League at the local Lutheran Church.
Barb later met and married her first husband; they had 3 children together. During that time, Barbara became an amazing dog groomer, an award-winning breeder and shower of Afghan hounds, and an amazing mother to her three children. After their divorce, Barb and her three children moved to California. There she worked at various dog grooming shops in the Bay area. She purchased Waggin' Wheels, a mobile dog grooming service, and developed it into a very successful business. So successful, in fact, that it was featured in Women's World magazine.
Barb loved nature, art, and cooking. After her children were raised and starting families of their own, Barb was able to enjoy the beauty of nature as she moved to the family home in Bigfork Montana. She was an amazing artist and loved to draw using chalks, paints and colored pencils. She specialized in drawing animals and would paint holiday scenes on the windows of local businesses. Unfortunately, that dream came to an end when her cancer was discovered. She moved to California for her cancer treatments, leaving her dreams of living in Montana behind. She lost complete use of her right arm during her treatments.
Upon completion of her cancer treatment, Barb moved to Oregon to be closer to her children. She obtained a position at the Cancer Treatment Center in Klamath Falls. It is there that she met the love of her life Barton Brown. They dated for a few months and were married. Unfortunately, they only had 3 short years of marital bliss due to Barton succumbing to his cancer. A few years after Barton passed, she had a horrible fall at her home in Klamath Falls. She loved the ocean and after her fall and Barton's passing, she decided to move away from the snow and cold and moved to Coos Bay.
Barb loved to entertain her friends and family. She was an amazing cook and loved to try new gourmet recipes. She threw lavish holiday parties and would delight the guests with her gourmet creations and beautiful decorations. She was always looking for new recipes
and for ways to share her delightful creations with others. Barbara (Barb, Momma, Sis, Grannie B, Crazy Auntie Barb) meant so much to so many! She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father Ernest Christian Juhl, her mother Carol Jean Juhl, her sister Sue Nelson, her husband Barton Brown, and her son in law Tim E Dahm. She is survived by her three children, her son Kris Lovelass and wife Donna, her daughter Kelli Dahm, her daughter Kerri Thornburg and husband Bill, her sister Chris Love and husband Vance, her sister Kathy Ash, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, great nieces, great nephews, and many cousins.
A celebration of life is tentatively planned for May 17th, 2025, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Cremation rites have been held under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary, 405 Elrod Ave, Coos Bay, Oregon 541/267-4216
