Marlene Lowe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary on Jan. 9, 2026.
Marlene Lowe, 86 of Coos Bay, passed away on December 13, 2025 after complications of dementia. She was born in Ashland, Oregon to Archie and Opal Roberts on June 8, 1939. As a child, her parents moved she and her younger sister, Dica, to Coquille.

She was married Jack Lowe from December 23, 1997 until his death in January 2025. Together they and had a son, Michael. They built a house near her parent's place, in Coquille, on Vernon Road (named after her Daddy's middle name) and settled there. Marlene was a hairdresser in North Bend and Coos Bay all her adult life.

As girls, she and her sister would sing in church. At family gatherings, with the accompaniment of her Daddy on the fiddle and her sister at the piano, there was always music, laughter and board games, especially her favorite, Scrabble.

She deeply loved her immediate and extended family. Many decades were filled with family campouts, holidays, and gatherings. She especially enjoyed the annual "ladies retreat" where the women, on her mom's side, all got together.

She was very talented in cake decorating and often made beautiful works of art for special family events. She was also a very gifted cook, often preparing delicious food for a crowd.

She is survived by niece and husband, Lisa and Tony Swinney of Lakeview, Oregon and numerous cousins throughout Oregon and Washington. She is preceded in death by husband Jack, son Michael, parents Archie and Opal Roberts and sister and brother-in-law, Karl, and Dica Goshorn. A family Graveside Service will be held at Myrtle Crest Memorial Gardens a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary, 405 Elrod Ave, Coos Bay, Oregon 541/267-4216
