Barbara Burd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home & Crematory on Apr. 26, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Sue Burd, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, who left this world on April 22, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on December 23, 1945, in Harlan County, Kentucky, Barbara was a bright light in the lives of everyone she encountered, leaving an indelible mark on family and friends alike.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of 31 years, Bill Burd, to whom she was first drawn at their memorable meeting at the Silver Saddle, where sparks flew from the moment they laid eyes on each other. Barbara's love extended to her late children, Douglas and Dana, her grandchildren, Charlie (Matt), Kennedy (Tyler), Randy, and the late Sarah and her great-grandchildren, sweet Sofia, Hanna, and Alaric. She also cherished her brother, Tommy Helton and her late sister Nella McIntosh.
In her professional life, Barbara found fulfillment as a Customer Service Representative in the finance industry at GE Capital, but her heart was always at home, embracing her family. An avid lover of dogs, especially rescue pups, Barbara found joy in her latest companion, Popeye, who was a gift from her daughter, Dana, a reflection of Barbara's own passion for rescuing animals.
Barbara's zest for life was evident in her numerous adventures with Bill and their friends, exploring beautiful destinations like the Grand Canyon and the sunny shores of Florida. She had a flair for enjoying delectable meals, particularly those lovingly prepared by Bill, and relished shopping trips that often came with laughter and shared joy.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park) on Thursday, May 1, 2025 starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in the Garden of Good Samaritan.
Let us come together to celebrate the life of Barbara Sue Burd-her warmth, her love for family, and her unwavering spirit. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in our hearts.
Barbara, we love you and will always carry your light with us.
