Barbara Ann Revis Burton, born on April 2, 1945, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Atrium Health Charlotte. She was a devoted homemaker who treasured every moment with her family, particularly her beloved grandchildren.
Barbara was married to her husband of 61 years, Wayne Harding Burton. Together, they raised two daughters, Ginger Horton and her husband Jarrod, and Celena Oakden and her husband Jason. Barbara took immense joy in being a grandmother to Kaylee Oakden, Olivia Oakden, and Jacob Oakden, who were the light of her life. She was a devoted Christian who loved God with all her heart.
Her warm personality shone through her love of flowers and butterflies, and she found joy in sewing and singing. Barbara’s life was a testament to the beauty of simple joys and the importance of family.
Her legacy includes her sisters, Agnus Ledford and her husband George, and Susan Hayes;, and her brother, Randy Revis. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will cherish her memory.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Ezel William Revis and Nona Celena Fortenbery Revis; her brother, Leon Revis; and her sisters: Judy Johnson, Libby Revis, and Sandy Black.
A funeral service to honor Barbara’s life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who devoted herself to her loved ones.
