Katherine Burton Obituary
Katherine was born on September 17, 1951 in Cleveland County, NC a daughter of the late Lee Roy Willis and Inez Marie Willis. She was janitor with Lincoln County School System retiring from West Lincoln Middle School. Katherine was a member of Hull's Grove Baptist Church in Vale, she loved her church and her Sunday school class. Katherine also enjoyed cooking, shopping and loved her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gary "Bud" Abernathy; a son, Chris Abernathy; two sisters, Peggy Petrea, Linda May and a brother, Eddie Willis.
Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Ronald L. Burton of the home; a daughter, Melissa Webb of Lincolnton; a son, Randy Abernathy (Summer) of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Logan Webb and Ashley Webb; a bonus grandson, Nate Lykins; a stepson, Jonathan Burton and wife Liza; six step grandchildren, one step great grandchild; a sister, Carolyn Turner of Lincolnton; a brother Larry Willis of Vale. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and her special fur baby, Annie.
The family will receive friends from 12:45PM to 1:45PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Hull's Grove Baptist Church and at other times the family will be at the home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Hull's Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Elmore officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hull's Grove Baptist Church, 6670 West Hwy 27, Vale, NC 28168.
