Darrell Bowman

Benny “Darrell” Bowman, age 84, of Bolivia, formerly of Cherryville, passed away December 11, 2025, at his home. Darrell was born August 1, 1941, in Randolph County, to the late Diffie Delmar and Hazel Gibson White.

In his earlier years, Darrell enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sunset Harbor, and a former member of Second Baptist Church in Cherryville and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. Darrell served as a deacon at all the churches in which he was a member. He loved & cherished his family and having them over for Thursday night dinners when he was able to cook and also enjoyed his time at the beach.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his siblings, Barbara Cochran, and Richard Bowman; great-grandson, Brayden Bowyer; and in-laws, Darris “Duck” and Ruth Ramsey.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Rita Gale Ramsey Bowman, of Bolivia, NC; children, Scott Bowman (Lisa), of Bolivia, NC, Rod Bowman, of Bolivia, NC, and Dana Davis (Todd), of Cherryville, NC; sisters, Karen Goodman, and Brenda Moon; grandchildren, Jennifer Bowman Snipes (Chris), Brittney Bingham (Jordan), Zach Bowman (Amanda), TJ Davis (Brooke), Jennifer Davis, Keyla Davis, Colby Davis, Cassie Urban, and Tori Holcomb (Spencer); and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Lail and Ed Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mary’s Grove Community Church Cemetery.
