Jo-Anne McGinnis

Jo-Anne Carpenter McGinnis, age 89, of Crouse, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Cardinal Healthcare and Rehabilitation of Lincolnton. She was born January 12, 1936, in Lincoln County to the late Fred Earl and Bertie June Goins Carpenter.

Jo-Anne was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and W.E.L.C.A. She was also involved with the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #100 of Cherryville. Jo-Anne loved traveling and seeing all 50 states.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. A. McGinnis, Sr.

Survivors include her sons, Claude A. McGinnis, Jr., and Donald McGinnis; twin daughters, Kay Billington (Mark) and Fay Costner (Ray); seven grandchildren, Clint McGinnis, Tiffany Long (Andy), Kayanne Avery (Evan), Clayton Mullis (Heather), Cole Mullis, Catilin Bailes, and Kayla Etheredge (Cason); 9 great grandchildren; grand dog Zoey; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, December 5, 2025, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sloop officiating. Her family will receive friends from 12:00 to 12:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

A private burial will follow at Forest Lawn Lincolnton.
