TOWNSEND: Barbara C. (McGinnis) Sherwin, 82, formerly of Townsend. It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Sherwin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left this world peacefully at Fitchburg Healthcare in Fitchburg, MA on November 25, 2025. Though her final days were spent there, her heart always remained in Townsend, MA, where she and her devoted husband made their home for 60 years-a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering love.

In her younger years, she worked as a cook and was a wonderful baker at Beverly's Restaurant in Townsend. She was known especially for her amazing fudge that family and friends looked forward to every holiday and gathering. She also loved spending time at the flea market-browsing, chatting, and discovering little treasures that brought her joy.

She began dating her husband when they were both just 16, and together they built a beautiful life grounded in kindness, commitment, and family. She is survived by her husband, Thomas, with whom she shared 66 years together; her son David, whom she cherished; and her grandson Derek, who held a special place in her heart. She and her husband were instrumental in raising Derek, guiding him with patience, generosity, and the kind of love that only grandparents can give.

Her legacy continues through Derek and his wife, Nicole, and their three children-Isabella, Michael, and Kaylee-her treasured great-grandchildren. Being their "Grammy" was her greatest joy in life. She embraced the role with unparalleled devotion, boundless affection, and an endless supply of hugs, stories, and encouragement. To her family, she wasn't just a grandmother-she was the Grammy: the best anyone could ever hope for, and her presence will forever be missed.

She is predeceased by her parents, William and Nellie (Page) McGinnis of Shirley, MA and her brother, William "Billy" McGinnis Jr. of Leominster, MA, whom she now joins in peaceful rest.

She will also be deeply missed by all of her loyal friends and extended family, whose lives were brightened by her kindness, humor, and generous spirit.

Her family will forever remember her gentle nature, her quiet strength, and the profound love she gave so freely. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in every life she touched and in the generations who will continue to feel her love.

May she rest in eternal peace, held in the same love she so generously gave to others.
