Ashby – Joan Baumber Wright, a devoted mother and grandmother who was loved enormously by her 7 children and 11 grandchildren, passed away peacefully on November 16th, 2025 at the age of 76. Joan was born on November 21, 1948, in Waterbury Connecticut to Robert and Eleanor Pearson.

Joan dedicated her professional life to caring for others. After graduating from Northeastern University's School of Nursing, she embarked on a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse. She worked tirelessly at local area hospitals in an unrelenting effort to care for the health of her local community. She was brilliant, poised under pressure, and a caring presence at the bedside of each patient.

Above all, Joan's greatest pride was her family. She was deeply loved throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Baumber who she selflessly cared for until his passing. Her memory lives on in her husband of 40 years, Nicholas Wright, whose devoted care and unwavering presence were a constant source of comfort to her.

She was the guiding force behind her seven children: Jenn Baumber and her husband Steve of Ward, CO; Kate Infantino and her husband Bryan of Lunenburg, MA; Nicholas Wright and his wife Erika of Pepperell, MA; Amanda Rush and her husband Rick of Arbutus, MD; her son AJ Wright and his fiancé Hannah of Baltimore, MD. She was preceded in death by her son Matthew Baumber and daughter Kelli Wright, both of Fitchburg MA. Joan also leaves behind her sister Diane and nephew Brian of CT.

Her spirit lives on in her eleven beloved grandchildren: Cole and Kaia Gjertson; Michael, Sydney, and Malia Baumber; Mason and Emma Infantino; Jackson, Emery and Warren Wright; and Callum Rush.

Upon retirement from nursing, Joan enjoyed the peaceful rhythms of life. She could be most often found outdoors- whether it be soaking up warm summer days in the pool, kayaking nearby waters or finding contentment in a long walk with her beloved dogs J.D. and Bentley. Some of her fondest memories were made at the beach with her husband, daughters and granddaughters. Joan had a sharp wit and a hilarious sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to everyone around her. Those of us lucky enough to have known Joan, will forever remember her infectious laugh and dedication to her family.

Joan's family will receive family and friends at the Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street Townsend, on Saturday November 22, 2025 from 2-5p.m. Please join Joan's loved ones at 4:45 p.m. as they share heartfelt reflections and cherished memories.
