Ashby-Erika F. (Fuchsstadt) Roy, 96, of Ashby, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025 in the UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
Erika was born and raised in Winkels, Germany a small village in Bad Kissingen on April 2, 1929 a daughter of the late Johann Fuchsstadt and Pauline (Wilm) Fuchsstadt. She came to the United States in 1948 and resided in Pepperell for several years before moving to Ashby in 2009. Erika led an active life, centered around family, friends and faith. She loved playing bingo, cards and exercising. She would often be found taking trips with her friends and family. She lived by the motto "blood is thicker than water" and "family always comes first." She never missed a family celebration. Her most treasured times were spent with family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and matriarch of her family. She will be remembered in their hearts always.
Erika worked in the cafeteria of the North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend for several years prior to her retirement.
She was an active member of St. John's Parish in Townsend as well as the senior centers in Pepperell, Townsend and Ashby. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Her husband, Norman G. Roy passed away in 2009. She leaves four children, Walter N. Roy of Pennsylvania and his significant other Rose Marie Gaines, Sandra E. Vettese and her husband Angelo of Gardner, Suzanne L. Caron and her husband, Richard of Ashby and Mark D. Roy and his wife Dawn of Ashby. Also 16 grandchildren, Tanja, Stephen, Alexandria, Heather Roy and John Gerdes and their mother, Janet Schultz, Jason and Kristie, Christopher and Jenner, Eric and Sara, Nicholas and Brittany, Joseph and Christine Vettese, Kristina, Richard and Brina, Angelia and Ashley Caron, Devon and Josh Livingston, Dylan and Alex Roy; 33 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased in death by her brothers Willy, Georg, Herbert, Alfred and her sisters Lenchen (Helene) and Anna Fuchsstadt. Erika's legacy lives on in the lives she touched, and her travels, and the hearts of her family and friends. Heaven gained a true angel.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 22, at 9:30 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 School St., Townsend, followed by a burial in Glenwood Cemetery in Ashby. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 21 from 4 to 7 PM in the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend
