Barbara Himes Cervay, age 73 of Centerville, passed away on August 14, 2024. She was born on October 26, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio. She was a self-employed tax consultant and preparer, dedicating the last 30 years of her life to assisting clients with their financial needs. Barbara obtained both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Dayton.
Throughout her life, Barbara was known for her empathetic, compassionate, and caring nature, traits that defined not only her professional career, but also her personal interactions. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her work, and was reflected in her love for her family and animals, especially dogs. She also had a special love for new babies, and they brought her so much joy. Her nurturing spirit touched many around her.
Barbara leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her beloved husband, John "Jack" Cervay; her children, Matt (Jessica) Cervay and Kristen Cervay; and her grandchildren, Hunter, Carlee, Lilian, and Asher. She also leaves behind her sister, Carol (Ken) Bagger, and her brother, Robert (Cheryl) Himes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Catherine Himes.
Barbara’s legacy of kindness and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 10 am to 11 am at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, OH 45459). A Celebration of Life will begin at 11 am.
