Barbara W. (Ramsey) Coleman, 95, of Floyd, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Wynn Hospital in Utica with her family by her side. On April 28, 1956, she was united in marriage to Allen Ramsey. He passed away in 1968.
Barb worked at Griffiss Air Force Base, Utica Mutuel Insurance and owned and operated a family farm with her late husband.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Utica. Barb enjoyed cooking for the family, her flowers, arts and crafts, and bird watching.
Barb was the strength and backbone of the family, with tremendous faith and constant giving to anyone in need, always putting others before herself. Her special strength was shown by her ever-present ability to take care of her son, Jerome, who had special needs his whole life. She will be greatly missed by her family for her stubbornness, her work ethic, and most of all her love for us.
Barb is survived by five sons, John Ramsey (Shari), Jerome Ramsey, Wayne Ramsey, Randy Ramsey (Julie), and John "Chuck" Coleman (Fiona); stepdaughters, Cathy May and Teresa Destito (Mark); a sister, Marie Connor; six grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Chelsea, Cory, Jeremy, and Aidan; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Elizabeth Wharton, Margaret Wurster, and Louise Wurster; two brothers, Fred and John Wurster; a granddaughter, Jordyn; and stepdaughter, Jackie.
Barbara's family would like to thank the staff at the Masonic Care Community Saratoga for their amazing care and compassion.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 13th, at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, September 12th, from 4-6:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, with a service to follow at 6:00 p.m.
