Barbara Jo Colter was born on April 24, 1957, in OKC, to John and Mary Lynn. Surrounded by family on her final days, she passed on from this life on December 15, 2023, at the age of 66 years old.

Barbara began working in the grocery business in 1973 as a checker, and after remaining in the same industry for 46 years, she retired in 2019 from her administration position for the Buy for Less grocery chain.

Barbara met Cameron in early 1975, and they were married in August later that year. Their 48-year marriage brought forth a family of two daughters, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Barbara loved all her family dearly. Her grandkids were the light of her life. She also cherished close relationships with her daughters and siblings. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, colleague, and friend.

Barbara enjoyed doing crafts with her grandkids, gardening, and traveling with family, especially if it involved a cruise ship. She also loved watching OU football games from her recliner, just as much as she loved the feel-good Hallmark movies.

Barbara will be remembered for her big heart, her beautiful smile, and her compassionate, thoughtful nature. She touched the lives of so many people. She will be deeply missed, and she will never, ever be forgotten.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Lynn.

Barbara is survived by her husband Cameron; her daughters Angela and Tina; her grandchildren Peyton, Makayla, and Eli; and her great-grandchildren Allyson, Kinsley, Kyndal, and Liam. She also has siblings Anita Linet, Chuck Lynn, and Dorothy Lynn, as well as a large extended family.

The visitation for Barbara will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, and her service will be on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home located at 14624 N. May in OKC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to MD Anderson Cancer Center at: https://gifts.mdanderson.org.
