Barbara June Connell (Blanchard), 75, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026. Born on August 19, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Barbara lived a life marked by faith, compassion, and service to others.
Barbara pursued her education at John Brown University before transferring to Indiana University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Her career reflected her dedication to caring for others as she worked at Riley Burn Unit, Ball Memorial Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital Open Heart Recovery, St. Joseph's Hospital ICU, back to St. Vincent's Hospital, Community North Hospital ER, and St. Vincent's Pre-Op Testing Unit before transitioning to Traveler's Insurance where she worked as a Medical Case Manager. In every role she held, Barbara’s commitment to helping those in need was evident.
Faith was the cornerstone of Barbara’s life. At a young age, she chose to follow Jesus and remained devoted throughout her years. She was an active member of several congregations during her life, including Hope Church, Church at the Crossing, and Hazel Dell Christian Church (now known as Venture). A gifted leader and teacher, Barbara led weekly Bible studies and inspired many with her deep understanding of scripture and steadfast belief. Also, Barbara, an accomplished pianist played everything from classical pieces to hymns.
Barbara is survived by her greatest gift, her miracle daughter, Christen Connell (JC Drake); her sisters: Betsy Blanchard, Peggy Ranz (Ed), and Polly Blanchard (David Driver); her nephews and niece David Ranz, Tommy Ranz (Sarah), Olivia Ranz; and her great-nephew Finnegan Ranz. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, June and David Blanchard.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 6, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a short service to begin at noon. A graveside service will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road.
May Barbara’s memory bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Hamilton County Humane Society.
