Barbara June Brooks Constien, a longtime Stafford County resident, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on April 24, 1942, to the late Fred R. and Gladys L. Brooks, Barbara graduated from Spotsylvania High School in 1959.
After marrying Frederick "Fred" H. Constien, they moved from Spotsylvania to Stafford, where they raised five children together. Before retiring in 2010, Barbara was employed by McKesson Medical.
Making quick friends and many lasting friendships, Barbara was the "glue" of the family. She enjoyed a well-maintained yard, especially her beautiful pink rose bushes, a good book, a Diet Coke, and was quick to share a plant and/or a book with anyone.
She was a member of Mine Road Baptist Church in Spotsylvania.
She was a devoted mother to her children and their families who survive her, Jacqueline Constien Otto, Dan Constien (Kathy), Belinda Constien Gayle (Roy), and Mike Constien (Nita); "Grandma" adored her grandchildren, Aaron Constien (Krystal), Justin Stockli, Travis Otto, Samantha Osmond (Anthony), Kristen Keister Williams (Rikki), and Cody Constien (Bekah); along with her eight great-grandchildren, Kaysen, Colt, Brooks, Haven, Braelynne, River, Callie and Noah. At times, Grandma was even known to break the rules for them!
Barbara is also survived by her brother, Fred Brooks, Jr. (Jean); sisters-in-law, Pat Wheeler and Mary Constien; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Frederick "Fred" H. Constien; son, Blane W. Constien; grandson, Taylor L. Keister; and sister, Shirley Goodman.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with the Pastor Peyton Wiltshire officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to Mine Road Baptist Church (11111 Post Oak Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22551), and/or Travelers Rest Baptist Church (6823 Partlow Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22551).
