Barbara Jean Cook

Barbara Jean Black Cook, age 73, of Sanford, NC, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at UNC Hospitals.
She was born in Moore County on February 25, 1949 to the late Neil Black and Ollie Baldwin Black. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lanney Gray Cook.
Barbara worked for Trion and was a member of Lemon Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and especially her fur-babies. In later years, Barbara assisted with elderly dementia patients.
She is survived by daughters Renee Cook Thomas (Mark), Angela Cook Haire (Larry); sister Brenda Wilkes of Carthage; sister-in-law Ann Cook of Sanford; grandchildren Patrick Cook, Tyler Haire, Zachory Thomas, Tori Amber Thomas and Jerritt Haire; and two great-grandchildren Madison and Jaxson Cook.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 10:00AM to 11:00 AM at Lemon Springs Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Brian Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
