Barbara Jean Cook, 64 of Shepherdsville passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Norton Audubon Hospital.
She was a Christian by faith and a homemaker. She provided her children with a loving and safe home. She was attentive, supportive and dependable. Barbara was a firecracker, a high-spirited woman that was fun to be around. She had a great sense of humor and an uplifting attitude, full of excitement and hope. She was sociable, and outgoing, she never met a stranger and made lifelong connections. Barbara enjoyed growing plants but didn't necessarily have a green thumb, she knew her limitations, and enlisted the help of her children to keep her plants thriving. Her family was her support system, she cherished every moment spent together, and the ways in which they enriched each other's lives. Her legacy will continue with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alvin Courtney and Doris Bishop, brother Robert Bishop, and granddaughter Abigail Scott.
Barbara is survived by her children Darrell Poppell (Jennifer) of Shepherdsville, Amanda Burgess (Shaun) of Shepherdsville, and Kenneth Cook of Mt. Washington; siblings Alvin Courtney of Colorado, Doris Ann Probus (Roy Estes) of Cub Run, Patricia Whisnant (Charles Newton) of Shepherdsville, Fred Bishop of Port St. Lucy, FL, Bud Payne (Janie) of Shepherdsville, Dale Courtney of Fl, and Timothy McCluskey (Jonna); grandchildren Sierra Hoover (Hunter), Norah Poppell, Alyssa Scott (Javier), Kaylee Burgess, Kinsey Burgess, Sophia Cook, and Kamden Cook; along with her great grandchildren Zayden Scott, Da'Mari Davis, Ivan, Marcus, and Henry.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home.
Visitations will be Friday 2-8 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
