Barbara Ann Cox

Barbara Ann Cox, 92, of Vienna, passed away on 11/09/2025. She was surrounded by her family & lived a full & meaningful life throughout her 92 years.

Barbara's warmth & love truly shone through everyone she met. She touched everyone's heart with kindness & compassion, and she will be deeply missed.

Barbara was born on August 25, 1933 to John R. & Gladys K. Grieff in Washington D.C. She grew up in Arlington Va & graduated from Washington & Lee High School in 1952.

After graduation, Barbara landed her first job with the census bureau. Then she worked as a Program Assistant for the Department of Treasury, kicking off a 16-year career in Program Data Management where she received several awards.
Barbara met William Cox, and they wed in 1956, going on to have one child, Theresa (Terri) Holland.

After retiring in 1995 Barbara enjoyed babysitting & spending time with her grandchildren. She was a diehard Redskin fan and enjoyed going to the games with her family & friends, including four Superbowls. She also enjoyed going to the beach, traveling around the country, and volunteering at the CHO clothes closet.

Barbara was predeceased by parents John & Gladys Grieff, her brother John Grieff Jr; & husband William Cox. Barbara is survived by her daughter Theresa (Terri) & her husband Chris of Warrenton VA; grandchildren Zachary Holland, Tanner Holland, Nash Holland, Taylor Messick & her husband Jordan. Her nephew Rick Jones & wife Melanie of Berryville Va. & their kids Danny, Stevie & Michael Jones.

Services will be held at Our Lady Church of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Visitation from 10am to 11am, mass 11am to 12pm. Burial at 2pm at National Funeral Home & National Memorial Park.Flowers can be sent to Money and King Funeral Home the day prior.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or Saint Judes.
