Barbara Cremeans Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cook & Son-Pallay Funeral Home - Columbus on Dec. 15, 2025.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara Marie Cremeans, also known as Barb Mays, who departed this life on December 7, 2025. Born on December 6, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio, Barbara lived a life that was delightfully infectious in her humor, compassion, dedication, and love. As her daughter-in-law, I, Nywana Mays, can assure you that Barbara was a champion of humanity, always radiating warmth and laughter to everyone she encountered.

Barbara was a retired professional who dedicated her life to the service of others. Her genuine love for people was evident in the way she lived her life. As Mother Teresa once said, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Barbara was an embodiment of this quote, as she loved fiercely and unconditionally. Her home was a haven, her arms a refuge, and her laughter a melody that still echoes in our hearts.

She was a dedicated mother to her sons, Charles, Shawn, and Chris, and a doting grandmother to Michael, Brooklyn, Emma, Dominic, and Justin. Her great granddaughter Paisleigh brought immense joy to her later years. She was deeply loved by her brothers, Jerome Mays and Jerome Beardsley, and many other family members who were part of her vibrant world.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Barbara Mays, her spouse, Kenny Cremeans, her fiance, Larry Mullins, her daughter, Leola Mays, her sister-in-law, Francie Cremeans, her sister and brother-in-law, Sandra-Mike Gayness, her sister, Colette Salyer, her daughter, Andrea(queenie)Shipp, and her brother, Anthony Wider. Their memories were cherished by Barbara, who found strength and resilience in the love they had shared.

As we gather to celebrate her life, let us remember Barbara as a beacon of compassion, a reservoir of love, and the embodiment of a life well-lived. As Mark Twain once wrote, "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time." Barbara lived fully, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on all our hearts.

We encourage you to share your fond memories and photographs of Barbara on the memorial page. Each story and picture serve as a testament to the love and joy she brought into our lives. Let's keep the memory of our dear Barbara alive, as we continue to love and laugh in the way she taught us.

Barb and I were childhood friends. Over the years we lost and regained contact. I last saw her in Ohio in 2014. The picture is of that day. Barb, my sister and I at her home in Columbus. She will be sorely missed by everyone who ever knew her
