Barbara "Bobby Sue" Seate Crute of Nelson, VA passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the age of 84. She was born in Mecklenburg County on August 10, 1940 to the late Glenn Seate and Lizzie Puryear Seate. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, George "Abe" Adams Crute.


Barbara was a member of Nelson Baptist Church. Before her retirement, Barbara worked in textiles with Longhurst Cotton Mill. She was a very hard worker, enjoying gardening and canning. Barbara also loved refinishing & refurnishing antiques and furniture. She loved finding treasures at flea markets and estate sales. Not to be forgotten, she was a fan of Elvis Presley and collecting old records.


In addition to her husband, George, she is survived by her children, Janice Wiles (Floyd), Jackie Crute, George Crute (Sandy), Scott Crute, & Bobby Crute (Amy); many, many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren & great great grandchildren; siblings, Alice Loftis (Donald), Pat Matthews (William "Sug"), Jimmy Nelson Seate (Mable) and Forrest Jacobs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Tingen and a daughter, Sarah Jean Crute.


Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Nelson Baptist Church with Reverend Ian Rigney officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, Barbara's family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
