Barbara Cushman Obituary
Barbara E. Cushman, 69, of Kell passed away surrounded by the love of her family Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. She was born on September 6, 1954, the daughter of Norman and Wanda (Butler) Dailey in
Granite City, Illinois. She married Ricky Boxx Sr. & they had 4 children & later divorced. Then on July 2nd, 1993 she married Brian Cushman in Odin & he survives in Kell.
Along with her husband of 30 years, Barbara is survived by her, children, Samantha Hanks of Central City, Beverly Boxx of Centralia, Ricky Boxx Jr. (Taunya) of Kell, Mindy Boxx of Centralia. & her Step children Heather Cushman (James) of Salem & Brian Cushman Jr of Salem & Jonathan Howell (Samantha) of Sandoval, Joel Howell (Jennifer) of Alabama. Grandchildren, Zachary Hanks, Jessica Carter (Jace), Alicia Hamm (TJ ), Amanda Lyons (Chris),Christian Lyons (Shi),Bradley Lyons (Nicole), Bethany Moghadam (Jordan), Robert Boxx (Samantha), Addison Boxx (Taylor), Mason Boxx (Sydney), Cole Dodson of Odin, Levi Dodson of Odin, Caden Cushman, Kaylee Hanks, Brandon Dodson, & Many Great Grandchildren; brothers, Floyd Dailey of Centralia, and Dennis Dailey of Pinkstaff; sisters, Cindy Daily of Elco, and Norma Marcum of Odin.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Linda Kuesis; and her son, Norman A. Boxx.
Barbara worked as a waitress for over 30 years at The Pantry in Central City where she made alot of life-long friends. She later opened several restaurants, one being Sisters Diner in Sandoval & Centralia & The Whippoorwill on College Rd in Centralia. She enjoyed the restaurant business. She was never one to back down from hard work! She loved building Floats for the Centralia Halloween Parade where she was the Master float builder winning The Grand Marshall & Harley Queen & 1st & 2nd several years. Barbara's heart was fullest spending time with family & her kids & grandkids, having family get-togethers on Holidays. Barbara will be remembered for her kindness & love of others, no one was a stranger. She would go above & beyond to help anyone.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon Monday, November 27, 2023, at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Kell with Brother Claude Howell officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest memorial Park in Centralia. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church in Kell. Memorials may be made to the Donor's Choice and will be accepted for the family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia.
