Barbara Lee Sheffield Daniels, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, just three days after accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was born on March 16, 1952, in Pittsburgh and raised in the Lawrenceville neighborhood. She was the youngest of ten children born to the late Early B. Sheffield and Clara Maude Sheffield. Barbara's life was defined by her compassion, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others.
Barbara attended Langley High School in Pittsburgh, where she began to develop the independence and strength that would characterize her throughout her life. She later married Robert A. Daniels, and together they raised five children: Ahrmeda Q. B. Daniels, Abdul Q. M. Daniels, Aqueelah S. I. Daniels, Atiya Z. M. Daniels, and Aqeel I. J. Daniels, all of whom survive her and carry forward her legacy of love, resilience, and service.
Barbara was a woman of many talents and accomplishments. She worked as a licensed real estate agent, a certified tax preparer, a clerk in Allegheny County's Prothonotary Office, and a committee woman in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood. Most notably, she owned and operated a notary office in Homewood, where she faithfully served her community by providing a wide range of clerical and notarial services. Barbara was known far and wide as the person to call when someone needed help preparing important documents such as deeds, wills, titles, and powers of attorney. She was, to many, a human encyclopedia-knowledgeable, dependable, and always willing to help.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Barbara was known for her remarkable spirit. She was a great listener, someone people trusted with their worries, questions, and hopes. Her level-headed nature and thoughtful advice guided many through difficult moments. Her generosity knew no bounds; she would open her home and her heart to anyone in need, offering shelter, food, clothing, transportation, encouragement, or simply a listening ear.
Barbara loved deeply and lived joyfully. She cherished her family above all else and found great happiness in spending time with them, sharing laughter, telling stories, and creating memories. She especially enjoyed traveling and looked forward each year to attending family reunions, where her presence brought warmth, humor, and unity.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Early B. and Clara Maude Sheffield; her sister, Constance Sheffield; her brother Clarence (Ahmad) Shareef; her sister, Juanita Thomas; her brothers, Michael Sheffield and George Sheffield; and her grandsons Khalid Daniels-Berry and Naziim Daniels-Drake.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children; her brothers, Early B. Sheffield Jr. and Phillip Sheffield; her sisters, Janice Johnson (James) and Marie Franklin; her cherished grandchildren; Yusef Shelton, William Smoot IIII, Samaiyah Smoot, Tie'que Daniels- Davis, Naiziim Daniels, Aseelah Daniels- Robinson, Atom Daniels, Armani Daniels, honorary grandson Marcel Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and community members whose lives were touched by her kindness.
Barbara Lee Sheffield Daniels will be remembered as a woman of strength, wisdom, humor, and boundless love. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she helped, the family she nurtured, and the community she served. She was truly one of a kind, and her presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
