Barbara Nell Darnell, age 88 of Villa Rica, formerly of Austell passed away January 4, 2025.
She was born to Joel and Alice Stephens in Atlanta, Georgia in 1936.
Barbara was a member of Davis Chapel Baptist Church for many years and current member of Concord Baptist Church.
From an early age, Barbara exhibited a remarkable talent for music, singing and playing piano. She was featured on WFOM Marietta radio station as a child and was a member of the church choir, singing many solos.
Barbara enjoyed cooking and feeding her family, often hosting many gatherings at her home. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed making dresses for young girls.
Barbara's amazing life was full of many challenges and hardships, but her unwavering faith in and dependence on God coupled with her fierce love for and loyalty to her family always served as a beautiful example of God's love and character in action.
She leaves a strong legacy of love, patience, endurance, and inspiration to all she leaves behind.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles C. Darnell and daughter, Donna Leigh Darnell.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Renee Darnell of Eatonton; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Frankie Darnell of Mableton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Wanda Stephens; Bill and Diane Stephens; grandchildren, Christian Darnell, Nikki Irving, Anna Feeny, Ben Darnell, and Luke Darnell; great-grandchildren, Kamrin, Bentley, Kingston, Justus, Hayleigh and Hayden. Barbara is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the service Thursday from 12:30-2:00PM
Flowers are accepted, or in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord Baptist Church in honor of Barbara. PO Box 1430 Mableton, GA 30126.
