Barbara Jean Bryson Moses Davis – mother, Oma, and friend - left this life early in the morning of Sunday, April 7 after a long decline with dementia.

Barbara was Carson and Helen Bryson's Valentine's Day baby born in Sylva in 1945. She is survived by her son, Brad Moses; her daughter-in-law, Danell Moses; and her four grandchildren who all called her Oma -- Sabine Moses (fiance Walt Hall) and Jade Benavides (Chris Benavides) who live in NC as well as Alex Mildenhall and Harrison Mildenhall who live in Kansas. She was preceded in death by both her parents and by her daughter, Lisa Moses.

Barbara lived a full life. She lived in many cities in North Carolina after leaving Cullowhee; most of her adult life she lived in Charlotte. She had an extraordinary work ethic and often shared fond memories of her time at Hoechst Celanese. After she retired, she volunteered with the Christian Ministries Crisis Center and worked at a consignment shop, The Penny Pincher, in Charlotte. Even after she moved to Webster in 2020, she continued to volunteer by taking Charlie, her rescue pup, to the Senior Center to meet and greet the seniors. She loved to read British mysteries, watch low-budget tv shows, go to flea markets, and bake good-sounding recipes she found in The Charlotte Observer. She also loved to travel. Oma went on countless trips to Disney World and Ocean Isle Beach with her family and friends. She also went on many trips abroad to Germany, Italy, Egypt, and her most beloved England.

Our sassy, classy, and sharp-dressed Barbara will sorely be missed. She did not want a formal service, so a small family gathering will take place to spread her ashes. Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Animal Relief Fund of Sylva.

Life is eternal
and love is immortal
and death is only an horizon
and an horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.
