A funeral service in witness to Barb's life and faith will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. noon, at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family on Sunday afternoon, March 30, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Barb will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Kalamazoo Christian Schools, in c/o the funeral home.
Age 78 of Goshen, IN, formerly of Portage, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, March 22, 2025. Barb was born in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Egbert and Angeline (Poortenga) Triemstra. On April 2, 1970, she married Roger A. Dekker who survives her. Barb was an avid reader. She also enjoyed doing puzzles. Barb's faith was central in her life. She lived a life of service to others and to her Savior. Nothing was more important to her than her family. She was proud of her sons and took great delight in her grandchildren. Besides her husband, Barb is survived by her sons, Michael (Shannon Gillette) Dekker of Elkhart, IN, David (Stephanie) Dekker of Goshen, IN; grandchildren, Anastasia (Landon) Story, Caleb Dekker, Nathaniel Dekker; sister, Kay Triemstra; brother, Tom (Ann) Triemstra; sisters-in-law, Charlene Triemstra and Marcia Triemstra; brothers in law, Paul Miersma, James (Janice) Dekker; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Barb was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nancy Miersma; brothers, Daniel Triemstra, Charles Triemstra; brother-in-law, Albert Dekker.
