Barbara Dennis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Frazer Cremations & Funerals - South Lyon on Mar. 11, 2026.
Barbara Laura (Viau) Dennis, more affectionately known as "Barbie" or "Babs" was born on April 16, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan to her parents Lionel and Florence Viau. She later welcomed her sister Sandra (Sandy) and her baby brother Ralph (Phyllis). Barbara graduated from Redford Union High School where she made cherished lifelong friends.

She married and had two children: a son, Steven Michael, who preceded her in death as an infant, and a daughter, Amy Elizabeth.

Barbie drove a brown Firebird and had fabulous style. She enjoyed working and was respected in the food and beverage industry. She was meticulous and charming, always a conversationalist, and had a way of getting to know someone quickly.

She later married for a second time and welcomed another daughter, Jennifer Nichole. Barb raised her two girls on her own and often worked two jobs to support them. She maintained her home, yard, and garden, all of which were her pride and joy. Along the way, she was supported by devoted friends, family, and neighbors.

She later welcomed her granddaughter, Marina Tagen. She attended all of her volleyball games and enjoyed traveling across the United States to cheer her on as her biggest fan.

After her retirement, she spent most of her time with friends and family. She was always ready for a shopping trip, a road trip, or a get-together with loved ones. Babs loved her two "favorite" sons-in-law, Chris Gordon and Joshua Blue, and was happy knowing both of her girls were married to great men who love them.

She was a good mom, a good friend, and a good person. She loved the pets she had throughout her life and was always sneaking snacks or treats to every pet she met. She was always on the go-full of life and energy that almost no one could keep up with.

Babs passed away at the age of 85 peacefully on March 10, 2026, with her daughters and granddaughter by her side. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
